| Jazz label Candid release Joe Stilgoe's debut. |
Joe Stilgoe has recently released his debut album 'I Like This One' through Jazz label Candid Records. Although Candid Records have been responsible for several hundred classic back catalogue recordings from the likes of David Liebman, Toots Thielemans and Bob Dorough amongst others in decades past, they are perhaps known best in recent times for introducing Jamie Cullum to the market. The Stilgoe name may also sound familiar to many as Joe's father, Richard Stilgoe, is the accomplished lyricist responsible for classics such as The Phantom of the Opera and Cats. The talent clearly runs through this family as Joe Stilgoe's album offers up some instant original jazz hits as well as immaculate renditions of classic songs such as 'Lady Is A Tramp' and the famous Scarecrow number 'If I Only Had A Brain' from The Wizard of Oz. The reaction from the national press so far has been phenomenal: Click here to purchase 'I Like This One' through iTunes Analogue tape transfers and mastering was by John Webber at Blue Pro Mastering. Joe recently commented on his experience of mastering at Blue Pro: "John Webber was quite brilliant. When looking for mastering for my album I couldn't have found a more professional and exciting studio. The facilities are state of the art, and John's musicality was exactly what I needed for the project. Mastering is a mysterious art, and they do it extremely well, so I would always recommend Blue Pro to friends and other artists." |
