AKA Design has recently completed the first set of new mastering furniture at the North London-based Blue Pro Mastering facility.

The new desk consists of angled racks with acoustic panels set in to the rear to give the desk both an ergonomic and stylish feel coupled with good acoustic practices.

Alexander Balfour, Owner of Blue Pro Mastering, said: "AKA is unmatched by anyone else in the UK and were our first and only consideration for the furniture in our mastering rooms. As a respected mastering facility, quality is something that we take very seriously and AKA have delivered for us on every occasion."

The unit was designed by Guy Wilson from AKA Design and Alexander Balfour from Blue Pro and houses all of the compressors, limiters, EQs and transfer console within easy reach of the engineer. The racks are specifically constructed to allow easy access to the racks from front and back for cabling are set separated to specifically sit the TC System 6000 and monitoring controls directly in front of the engineer's working position. The unit is also specifically designed to reduce obstruction to the optimum monitoring position.

The client roster at Blue Pro Mastering is impressive and includes major labels such as Universal Island, SonyBMG and EMI through to hundreds of independents including World Music Network, Genetic Records, Heavenly Recordings & Candid Records.

Recent work at Blue Pro Mastering includes The Yeah You's (Universal Island) , Nerina Pallot (Echo / Chrysalis) as well as mastering work for an extensive range of artists including Mercury-nominated post-jazz outfit Polar Bear, award-winning Indian composer Kiran Thakrar and dance girl group Fe-Nix.
